Leaving the Gary Shteyngart and George Saunders event on Friday, all I wanted to do was turn around, sit back down, and listen some more. They are both very funny, very smart men. Saunders, if he wanted to, could start a cult. I'd be Secretary of Appreciation (a vague and important title). Maybe that's what he'll do with his MacArthur Award. Why not? Really...why not?! I'm grasping at straws here!
The evening's moderator, a New Yorker editor, was so dry he was a fire hazard. Outside the theater, my girlfriend nearly jumped into Saunders's waiting Town Car. Thankfully, no one saw as I tackled and dragged her underground into the subway. She would join the cult too. George, what do you say? Lead us?
In other news: the blogger behind Bicycle Diaries has answered my query about the newly discovered Robert Frost poem.
And the Olive Reader found an interview with Harper Lee about writing.
