I think I am just emerging from the weekend now.  It really had a hold on me.  Moving forward, or sideways, wherever the internet is, I have some links you might like:

Mad Hatter's Review: Issue Six is online and ready to make you giddy.  Please check this site.  It's absurd and demented.  In a word, awesome.  I was recently introduced to MHR at a KGB reading they sponsored.  Quite fortuitous.

And if you'd like more coverage of the Dodge Poetry Festival, Uncle Tonoose has great photos, links, and commentary (scroll down a tad for the relevant posts).  It was certainly a weekend to remember.

Small Spiral Notebook - Vol. 1, Fall 2006 Ed.

Good morning and monday.  We have some beautiful fall weather here in NYC.  I feel like I'm beginning a new school year.  And as all new school year's must have, a new beauty, having blossomed over the summer, is striding through the halls.  I speak of the fall 2006 online edition of Small Spiral Notebook.  This latest installment celebrates their 5th online anniversary.  Five may be a little young to consider a beauty blossomed, unless you're JMK, but like dogs, literary journal's age a bit quicker than time might suggest.  I estimate SSN at a lively 17-19 years old.  With the metaphorical logistics behind us, please visit for oodles of interviews, book reviews, fiction, poetry, and more -- all of which is framed by a beautifully redesigned website.  And that's the hard sell.

n + 1 Ripped Off

The editors of the literary magazine n + 1, one of which is an esteemed HarperCollins employee, held a fundraiser August 25th.  For subscribers the cost of admission was $20, for others it was $30.  Over the course of the night, $3000 was raised.  It was only then, with the cash box brimming and its attendees offguard, that the gutless crook made off with the entire night's earnings.  "The party was so nice that we were lulled into a false sense of security.  Everybody was wearing jackets; there was classical music.  We didn't think anyone was going to steal our money," said Keith Gessen, editor.  I hope whoever did this has conscience enough to redeem themselves and send the money back.  In the meantime, please visit the n + 1 site and make a donation.  Read the full story in The New York Sun.

A Public Space

OOOoooooeeee, it's here and not a moment too soon -- the second issue of A Public Space.  The first was an enormous success and is barely available because they're all bought up.  And now we have another nicely packaged, content rich issue to fawn over.  I've barely peeked between the covers.  I'm waiting for the plane rides, car drives, and beach lies of next week.  But I've already got that feeling, the same one I used to get as a kid when I walked through the fishing & camping gear aisle at Caldors, the one that makes me dance and look for a bathroom.  Visit their site for ordering information.
